WHY I’M NOT EXCITED TO COME BACK TO CAMPUS

I believe that schools should not reopen this school year for the following four reasons:

1. Schools that are planning to reopen would have to change their schedule.

This would confuse and stress many students, especially if the school is reopening in the middle of the school year.  Kindergarteners, sixth graders, and ninth graders would have an even more difficult time with going back to school, as they would not only have to get familiar with a new school but would also have to get familiar with the environment of their new school.

2. Students would have to wear a mask all the time.

Wearing a mask can be very distracting, and it can make students lose focus in class.  This can negatively impact their academic performance.

Students would have to wear a mask all the time.

3. We must remember that the vaccince for COVID-19 just came out.

Frontline workers and others doing similar jobs, are given priority to get it. Due to this reason, the majority of students won’t be vaccinated by the time schools are planning to reopen. Also, if students get vaccinated after schools reopen, they will have to stay home for a couple of days, as side-effects of it include a fever.

4. Even if schools take various precautions to prevent Covid-19, there is still a possibility of an outbreak occurring on campus.

The vaccine just creates more immune cells that fight off corona, but it doesn’t prevent you from spreading the virus or make you immune to it.

Therefore, if any schools are planning to reopen soon, they should definitely consider holding off until the next school year.
